The service has an Equality & Diversity Steering group which is chaired by the Chef Fire Officer. This group drives the Equality & Diversity agenda in the organisation. Members of the group include the Fire Authority lead member for Equality & Diversity, directors of Corporate Planning, Corporate Risk Registry and People together with representatives from Unison, Fire Brigade Union and Retained Fire-fighters Union. The Steering Group is advised by the service Equality & Diversity Advisor.
Wiltshire Fire & Rescue Service and Wiltshire & Swindon Combined Fire Authority have adopted the National Fire & Rescue Service Equality and Diversity Strategy 2008-18. The service is in the process of developing a Corporate Equality & Diversity Action Plan linked to the strategy.
